Having said this, it should not be the browser manufacturer's job to customise their rendering process to magically make sites intuitively accessible on small devices - and if they do, it impinges on our ability to decide on what's best for the user.
Opera would disagree with you - Opera Mobile (their fully-fledged mobile browser, as opposed to Opera Mini which is essentially just a proxy tool) does exactly that - it magically make sites intuitively accessible on small devices
