-----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Mon, 10 Dec 2007 5:42 pm Subject: engine mount adjustment I've got some whine running under power and the more throttle the louder the whine. It's getting annoying. Doesn't happen in reverse or neutral. I've talked to the transmission/power people (Mack Boring) and they said either the transmission or the cutlass bearing. Suggested taking the coupling apart and re-alignment. The "dripless" shaft seal folks said that the seal could? whine if out of water, it's not. So, to align the shaft, how does one take into consideration the shaft load from the prop? There's not much movement, but there's gonna be some. Is a static alignment close enough? I understand it's +/- .003 ? It appears to be coming from the cutlass bearing, I likely can't tell until I pull the coupling apart. Any ideas, suggestions, wisdom, etc. The cutlass bearing has been in the boat about 4 years and has less than 100 hours on it under power. I do have a hefty three blade prop pushing the boat. It's a 40' Hunter. Thanks in advance More new features than ever. Check out the new AOL Mail! ________________________________________________________________________ More new features than ever.
