I'm not privy to the construction of the bricks that come with 
computers, but from what I've read the problem results in early failure 
of the brick.  The computer doesn't seem to be affected.  If I had to 
guess, the extra switching the brick is doing  overheats it.  Too much 
heat is usually a common cause of premature failure in many devices.
