I bought a new 4 stroke Suzuki last year and keep it in a lazarette in Maine waters. It's beastly heavy and I'm lazy so she stayed put over the winter. All I did was change the oils. This spring she started fine and ran but after my first couple cruises she began to refuse to idle. I installed it with a controller, so it's key start and has a shifter, throttle. The shifter is disabled until the engine reaches a low idle, so she stalls and I can't get her into gear. She still idles for the first start of the day - but not after she's warm. And she isn't sounding right until up to speed.
Runs well at speed. Won't idle. Becomes inoperable. The guy at the place I bought her said it's ethyhol in the gas which gums up the pilot jets in the carb. he said she needs to come in for an overhaul but that's not an option for me till the fall. If anyone has experienced this and can offer any remedy, it would sure help.
