In the context of the original comments about moving overseas due to the
current political clime towards boaters in this country..
its not too far out of the realm of liveaboard...

Noel to answer your question....NO I would not... the advantages to me, as a
human, are far to great in opposition to the cons of being an alen in this
country... it will only get worse being a foriegn registered boater coming
into US water.
To whit; If you are a foriegn flagged vessel, this includes pleasure
boaters, you now must _everytime_ you move your boat. Notify Homeland
Security. I think it was on Salty Southeast I read, that a canadian couple
moved thier boat from thier marina in Fort Lauderdale to a Boatyard for
bottom painting and were either fined severely or severly yelled at becasue
the local homeland stupidity office was not notifed well in advance. Other
places dont give a rat's ass what flag flys from your boat and when and were
you moved as long as you are in this country legally... OTOH, there are
places that as a boater, being a US citizen, you are not exactly welcome...
Since there are plenty of other places to go wthat like my passport and they
like my $$$, then I can chose those and leave my $$ there..
Further, being a US flagged vessel with a US citizen on it.. offers me
advantages if I need help in a foriegn country.. not all countries have a
system you can walk into your own embassy and have them fly you for free
home...

That, I think is not to much politics is it Phillip?

I think that some people would rather eat bland lemon flavored jello than a
little spice cake some days... Me? I like both... but politics, no matter
how you like it, phillip will always be, as boaters, a part of our lives...
politics in some 3rd world countries will drives us to or away... politics
in our own land will drive us batty and make us hae to comply wiht some
pretty crazy stuff...it might even make a few leave... One will never
completely get away with it.. it is everywhere, here, there, everywhere..

fair winds..
