Funny... & the word boat or boater NEVER appears in this article. I lived in Ft Myers Beach for 5 months, a few years back when a tropical event dumped a lot of rain of Estero Island. Thanks to all the leaking septic systems (I assume).... the standing water left behind smelled like raw sewage! My only land transportation at the time was a bicycle. Boy was that disgusting.
On the Florida east coast Palm Beach, Broward & Dade counties have pipes installed to pump sewage out 3 miles from the beach & dump it! The state of Florida has just recently told them they need to be removed! They have a lot of closed beaches days too. Gee.... wonder why?
