As much as we might abhor it... barges do get towed without lights... It
seems to me
that it was an act of god.. in this market selling that boat might have been
hard..
Neptune stepped in and 'sold' it for them so to speak.. they both got out
alive..
point in fact.. the barge was unlit.. it is negligence on the part of the
tow company..
the lawyers must have had a field day with that one.

It is easy playing armchair sailor in a situation you might find yourself in
someday...
kudo's for the couple to have the cool head to get the life raft deployed
and into it in the
mere 5 minutes before the boat itself sank. It could have ended much worse.
