Spoken like a true, no-nonsense grandma... Us old hackers used to make fun of the AOL people with their 'pretty-print', fostered upon us by MS (I remember gettiing a message in the 80's with a '.dat' file attched to it, I was using a plain POP3 client - hello? What's that?). Alas, things have changed, I am watching a Steelers game on ESPN Gamecast, (I have no TV), passing the grandchildrens' pics thru email and such. BUT!! I prefer to send text mode and include URL's rather than the whole file, and on a list, especially one where some people have message size limits, text mode is the way to go. Be kind to the people that don't have broadband.....
the Dino PS: A hacker in the olden days NEVER did anything malicious, just modified the operating system code on his own computer to his liking. Ahemmm.... Well, I did hack a lawyer's (a friend, believe it or not) office system once, so when he booted his computer his login screen had a picture of me saying 'hello'. Just to prove a point how unsecure his system was, of course....; ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rosalie B." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, October 26, 2008 5:49 PM Subject: Re: [Liveaboard] Mail Format > On Sun, 26 Oct 2008 16:39:30 -0400, you wrote: > >>Well Eric, >> >>I can understund your frustration with some of the mail formats, >>---- BUT ---- >>here is what your message looks like in Plain Text format, which is, >>by the way, my default setting in Outlook Express. >>You can enlarge received HTML messages in Outlook Express: >>Select 'View/Text Size/Largest'. >> >>Walter > > Plain text without attachments is the format that this list and most other > lists > are based on.
