Yep. My recommendation for people like yourself is to download Ubuntu
and try running it "live" - that is, don't install it, just run it from
the CD and play with it to see if it's up to your "friendliness"
standards. If you don't like it, just pitch the CD; it doesn't leave any
footprints.
