We too have the force 10 and it does do all those thongs. Next one will be a home cheapo model on a homemade mount

We have had two years' experience with our Magma Catalina and use it 4 or 5 times a week. Yes, they are too expensive, BUT we have had no problems with high wind or uneven heating. I can only recall one time when it "blew out" and the wind must have been in the 30-40 knot range when it happened.

It does have some brownish stains on the exterior and I'm not sure if it's corrosion or the result grease fires. I haven't tried very hard to remove them, so I don't know how permanent they are.

The push button igniter lasted about two weeks, though. Other cruisers tell me that's pretty typical. I found rather pricey "one size fits all" replacement igniter at West Marine. It didn't really fit, but I got it installed anyhow and, yep, it lasted about two weeks. We now use the butane fire sticks.

Overall, we're very happy with our Catalina. As I recall, Practical Sailor rated them pretty highly -- maybe Numero Uno. If you want, I might be able to dig out the article.

Good luck!

Prev tried a barrel style (2002) found it as bad and sold it with first
boat.
Was recommended to buy Magma Catalina and verified from owners that it works
in reasonable winds, don't like $350 price.
Currently have tiny Force 10 barrel, it cooks unevenly, it requires wind or
must leave top ajar, or it goes out.
Recommendations please!
Can anyone verify if new models Kuuma (specify exact model) cook in normal
circumstances?
