As I told you, it uses "AA" batteries. They last a long time, but I was told
by a user that the units must be rebooted every 24 hours. The behavior you
describe is similar to the malfunctions I observed on the 3 boats traveling
from Seattle to Yokohama. If you contact the US Coast Guard, they will do a
marine broadcast search and call all the marinas enroute. They will also
want to know if you have a float plan for "Flying Pig." It will use scarce
resources.
