HI All,

Anyone wanting more information on this tool should
look up www.findmespot.com

The SPOT is setup to use Lithium Batteries, AA size.
I do not know why there would be a problem but in the
past I have put in SKIP's id code and gotten 404 errors
at the web page he listed. It should be known that in
the middle of Sept SPOT also did new programming and
maybe SKIP missed updating his personal data files and
possibly a glitch from prior programing caused a defect.

In any event:
I am sure SKIP would not want the notoriety of having an alert from the
USCG transmitted everywhere. It would make him look foolish again.

Remember he has had several issues that caused a bit of
embarrassment in the past, including:

Losing his boat on the rocks the first weekend they
went out sailing on their cruise when they were all
sleeping as it went into a reef causing them to have to
be rescued by USCG Helicopter and later having
salvage boats pull it off the rocks;

Running out of fuel in the ocean as they were trying to
go up to Maine due to not knowing how low they were
before they reached their destination port;

and normal operational snafus including going aground
in both the Chesapeake, and in the Bahamas when they
failed to read the water correctly...

If it were me, the last thing I would want would be someone
sending an alert to all stations and marinas further using
my boat name.

I think SKIP and Lydia have learned a lot and are capable of
sounding off their own EPIRB if they get into trouble. They have
been able to do it before and I am sure they have not forgotten
how to do it.
