HE IS RIGHT! HAVING FOLLOWED 3 SPOT VESSELS FOR WEEKS FROM SEATTLE TO JAPAN
I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT IT CANNOT BE RELIED UPON BY OBSERVERS ASHORE. DO NOT
ASSUME ANYTHING! HIS "AA" BATTERIES COULD HAVE DIED. HE COULD HAVE FAILED TO
REBOOT THE UNIT PERIODICALLY. THE RECEIVING SATELLITE COULD BE SCREWING UP.
I'VE SEEN TIMES WHEN ONLY 1 OUT OF 3 BOATS DISPLAYED A CURRENT, CORRECT
POSITION.

THERE ARE PLENTY OF USCG DRUG PATROLS IN THE AREA - BOTH SEA AND AIR. HE
COULD PROBABLY REACH THEM ON VHF. SPOT MALFUNCTION OR HUMAN ERROR IS THE
MOST LIKELY CIRCUMSTANCE.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS. HE HAS A SPOT THAT HAS ITS OWN
911 BUTTON THAT HE CAN REQUEST HELP IF HE WANTS IT.
