I have 2 experiecnes (well, 3, but 2 in the same boat)

1) I mounted a garmin transducer in my 1973 gulfstar 41' forward of
the keel, using a pvc pipe fitting to hold water around it- worked
great.

2) In my current searunner 34, i did the same with a garmin depth
finder and it worked fine for a year or two. I upgraded the depth
finder to a chartplotter/gps and moved the mount point to a more
convenient location (for me) that was over the mini-keel. Not so good.
I'll be moving it back to the incomvenient location this week.
