Hi Steve,

 

According to lore (because I haven’t tried it) one is supposed to
completely cover the brass in ketchup and heat to a boil.  Another similar
treatment I’ve read is hot sauce.

 

I’ve used salt and vinegar paste with great success.  Also MAAS cream (my
favorite) and Brasso with great success
