I'm a DJ that will, if clients ask, spin music videos in addition/instead of
audio-only songs. To do this I've had to use various apps on a Windows
Install. While this works well, I've always wanted a linux-native solution
to do the same type of shows.
I'm pleased to say that Lives seems to fill 80+ percent of my needs.
There are a few things that are either missing or hidden that I'd need to
use Lives as my exclusive VJing app.
The one I'm writing about now is whether it's possible to have the
background clip playing even though it's not the current clip seen via
playback? The reason I'm asking is I might mix two songs/videos together so
that I can do rapid transitions between them, and in effect create a new
rhythm. Or even a new hook.
This doesn't work, though, if when I crossfade Lives pauses the background
clip.
Another useful feature for VJing--I lied about having only topic in this
email--is to simulate two decks while in "VJ Mode" is to provide the option
for only allowing two clips in a set, and when a new one is loaded, it
replaces whichever clip isn't in the foreground.
Can't wait to put Lives through the paces.
