Note that the properies and XML properties format should in theory be mergable
with stock shading transformers. A big win IMO. What I have not done in the
branch is read a property file back into cache objects. This will likely be
hacky ugliish code due to the flat nature of property files, XML or not. I
invite you all to experiment with the branch named after this ticket.
