If you want to do serious photography, I can recommend the Nikon
Coolpix 990. It's big and heavy (and a battery hog - get rechargeables)
but it runs at 2048x1536, does excellent close-up work, and copes
superbly with low light conditions. The built-ih flash isn't wonderful,
and red-eye is a problem; also it's a type I CF slot.
