I run grou.ch/grouch.rhizomatic.net. irc.clueball.com is simply a
wrapper script. grou.ch runs hybrid, as do the other rhizomatic servers,
and most of Efnet.

I would say it is. Misconfiguration risks appear to be minimal, and the
chances of someone DoS'ing a small private network are small - consider:

<1337> I just DoS'd an IRC Server!!
<k3wl> Wow! That's cool. One of the big ones, right?
<1337> Well, no. Some small network that no-one's heard of
<k3wl> oh. u |\/|u5T B l4m3 indeed!

There's simply no kudos in beating on a small private IRC network, whereas some might
argue you have to b 1337 1Nd33d to bring down Efnet (or not). I would say go for it.
Grouch has ~ 70 clients connected to it at one
time, and eats almost no bandwidth or CPU. No attacks so far, despite
rhizomatic being more widely mentioned than a lot of people would like.
