Right, having read all the entries in this thread, this is my conclusion.

London.pm has, for a long time, been an inclusive list.  I'd hate to
change that policy now - as it has been pointed out, this prohibits
certain people (e.g. those using hotmail) from posting.

The main problem is that the moderator queue is too large these days
(mainly due to the quanitiy of spam we're receiving, partly due to me not
pulling my weight - bad me) for the moderators to easily deal with it.

Paul, is it possible to filter all messages that arn't from subscribers
though spam assassin or something?  This seems like a good compromise - if
you're not a subscriber and your mail looks like spam then it's gonna get
automatically canned.  This should leave us with a manageable selection of
mails to deal with.
