Text editing is critical in GNU/Linux (or any POSIX). Minimal OS installs are extremely common today with Vi being the only editor option.
Hence Vi is pretty critical in even a junior Linux sysadmin's toolkit, hence the weight. No reason to change weights. This comes up every revision, and the Mano-only welding crowd often takes issue. - bjs P.S. Although I never wish frustration on anyone, it is pretty funny to watch a newer sysadmin that doesn't know Vi deal with a root bash shell in Vi mode, especially if the don't know the simple setting to disable it. The resulting damage to the system is not always pretty either. :) -- Sent from my Moto G7 Power, apologies for any brevity as well as the satanic versus of autocorrect Bryan J Smith - http://linkedin.com/in/bjsmith
