If you look at the new exam objectives that take effect on 1 April, 2009, you'll see that all of the stuff that you're concerned about has been removed. Also, the weighting for the hardware portion has been reduced to "1", which means that you might see one hardware question on the exam. (I don't have the url to the new exam objectives handy at the moment, but I'm sure that Matt could hook you up.) If you haven't yet taken the 101 exam, but are interested in doing so, I would recommend that you wait until after 1 April. If you take the exam now, you'll have to learn a lot of obsolete stuff that you'll never use in order to pass.
