Hello

I am new to this list but not new to lprng. I have been using it
on out Lynix and Sun Solaris boxes for quite some time.

We have been using 3.5.1 with great success. However after hearing about some
security
problems with the older releases, I decided to upgrade to the latest
release, 3.6.26. I followed all the recomended steps and changed
my printcap file accordingly. But I find that I cannot get banner pages to
print.

The printers we have are all HP LaserJets and all are networked using IP. I changed
the ifhp.conf file so it was not doing the banner printing and added the appropriate
config statement to the printcap file. The pages print just fine, but no banner pages.

Since these printers a shared by a number of people, banners are very necessary.

  Here is my printcap entry:

csb311ps|ucf-web-ps|hplj-4si on ucf-web:\
        :lp=csb311ps%9100:
        :mx#0:\
        :rw:\
        :bp=/local/libexec/filters/psbanner.sh:\
        :if=/usr/local/sbin/ifhp:\
        :of=/usr/local/sbin/ifhp:\
        :sd=/usr/spool/csb311ps:lf=/usr/adm/lpd-errs:

I checked the status file for the printer and it shows that the banner filter
executed and finnished ok.

What am I doing wrong ?? Is there someting else that I need to do to get
banner pages to work again ???

Chris
