Hi all,
I experienced a strange situation:
I am using an intel netport print server box for printing from linux
and windows.
Last week all the jobs from linux where held into the queues. (nothing
was printed from my linux server)
while windows machines where printing normaly.
Using the lpq command I find out that there were a time out error while
trying to connect to the print server.
I tried to ping the print server and it was pinging.
I tried to telnet (telnet printserver 3001) and I couldn't connect
(timeout).
How is it possible for windows to be able to print while at the same
time linux couldn't ?
I am using a simple printcap entry as follows:
gp1:\
:lp=192.168.173.9%3001:\
:sd=/usr/spool/gp1:\
:ff=\0:fq:\
:mx#0:mc#99:\
:max_datafiles#99:\
:cm=network.192.168.173.9.3001:\
:sh
#
and an lpd.conf as follows:
check_for_nonprintable@
force_localhost
client_config_file=/etc/lpd.conf
filter_ld_path=/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/X11R6/lib:/usr/local/lib
filter_path=/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/lib/filters:/usr/X11R6/bin
mail_operator_on_error=root
pr=/usr/bin/pr
printcap_path=/etc/printcap
printer_perms_path=/etc/lpd.perms
server_config_file=/etc/lpd.conf
server_user=lp
user=lp
group=lp
send_data_first
done_jobs=0
lpd_force_poll
lpd_poll_time=11
#send_try=0
#connect_timeout=30
#send_query_rw_timeout=10
#send_job_rw_timeout=3600
#exit_linger_timeout=30
#stalled_time=1000
