Steve,

What kind of network card do you have in
the workstation.

And, are you using a hub or a switch.

The reason I ask about a switch, is that I've seen
switches do really flakey things.  They have a bit
of logic in them, and sometimes they go wacko.

If it is a switch, try cycling power on it.

Also, are you sure your cables are good ?  I've
seen cables that are mis-wired, and they appear to
work until you put them under load.
