Daniel, I run LTSP in several libraries and what I do is set up one account per workstation. For example the username for ws001 is ws001 - original isn't it? :-)
Doing it this way allows me to run various scripts that can interact with a specific workstation, or a range of workstations. For example I built an apache-based interface for the librarians so that they can send a message (using xmessage) to a particular workstation (i.e. "Please keep it down over there!"), track workstation and printer usage, direct print output to the closest printer, access the correct floppy drive, etc. By knowing the $DISPLAY or $USER I know what machine is asking for what. Each workstation simply uses auto log in to its own account when it boots up. Pete Daniel Łaś wrote: > > Hi > > I am network administrator of Main Library of Opole University.
