Well the client is just running a minimum copy of linux and x windows. The desktop display is served from the server itself. The linux on the client end is just to make the hardware work and to give the workstation a x windows client other than that there is nothing run on the client.
It is the same thing as running ltsp except that we do not remote boot the client. I will shortly be running over 400 clients and with that many booting at a time during a manufacturing floor shift start it would just crush the network. That combined with 400 remote root mounts via nfs would cause a whole lot more network traffic. My local linux store sells it too, so I'll support them by grabbing some and play.
