When I got started with Linux and LTSP, I used K12LTSP software from http://k12ltsp.org/contents.html. There you can download iso's for a complete LTSP system. It will install the OS, tftp, nfs, LTSP, dhcp and provide a default LTSP system that will work for most common PC based clients. The base install installs 3 different window managers (gnome, kde and icewm) and a host of other apps like openoffice, rdesktop and vnc. I found it an excellent way to learn Linux and ltsp because the default install will work out of the box with minimal configuration.
Also I think Mandrake 9.1 has problems with LTSP. I might be wrong but I seem to see a lot of questions on this list concerning Mandrake 9.1 so even if you roll your own, you should consider another distro. Have printed and read most of the common publications related to LTSP. Have 2 workstations eagerly getting to run level 3, or 4 (but no telnet enabled on the server) Desire to get these to a level 5, but am totally stumped. Have nuked the hard drive on the server, re-installed some 12 times, cannot figure out for the life of me where to go next, or what is Borq'd. Mandrake 9.1; install went typical, sorry for any nasties in the output, : #/root/ltsp_setup.txt [EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# urpmi nfs-utils Everything already installed [EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# urpmi dhcp-server installing /var/cache/urpmi/rpms/dhcp-server-3.0-2pl2.5mdk.i586.rpm Preparing... ################################################## 1:dhcp-server ################################################## [EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# urpmi tftp-server installing /var/cache/urpmi/rpms/tftp-server-0.32-1mdk.i586.rpm Preparing... ################################################## 1:tftp-server ################################################## [EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# cd /mnt/cdrom [EMAIL PROTECTED] cdrom]# urpmi *.rpm installing ltsp_kernel-3.0.5-0.i386.rpm ltsp_x_fonts-3.0.0-0.i386.rpm ltsp_x_core-3.0.4-0.i386.rpm ltsp_core-3.0.9-0.i386.rpm The Linux Terminal Server Project (http://www.LTSP.org) About to update important system files.
