Hello all,

What are your suggestions in implementing LTSP network environment that
also runs MS Windows 2000 using VMWare inside the LTSP server?

Thanks in advance for the tips.

If you are planning on running a single machine with a single Windows application, you might want to run VMWare, Win4Lin, or, even, wine to run the Windows application. If you are planning on having many users run Windows software, put together a second dedicated machine that can run either Windows 2000 Advanced Terminal Server, Windows 2003 Terminal Server, or Windows XP Professional with WinConnect Server XP (_www.thinsoftinc.com/products_winconserver_info.html_). Regardless of which Windows server you run, you would configure rdesktop to remotely connect from LTSP to the Windows server.

The benefits to running a separate server are reduced hardware requirements for the LTSP server, improved system performance for those people that do not need to run a Windows application, and isolating Windows viruses to a single machine.
