Now while looking around, found this article, describing two-way sync,
which seems to be just what I want.;)

Does this article describe everything you require? As I understand it,
if server 'A' is currently 'live', then as soon as a user updates a file
on server 'A', you want to replicate that change to server 'B'.
Similarly, if they are on 'B', you want changes replicated to 'A'. This
replication should take place in real time, or if the 'other' server is

Not in real time with rsync, I suppose it should be fine running the cron job every 15-30 minutes. There's not much changing data on the LTSP server, so even once a hour would be enough. The goal is to present the user with his environment on the other system. Case the server hw breaks, the tc will probably only display the grey Window with the large X. Now, user switches off his tc and on again, in about 20 sec. he'll be able to login again (on the second LTSP server) and find his environment.

not available, as soon as it becomes available.

People pay serious money for this functionality on proprietary
systems...

Yep, but then you are talking about shared cluster fs, there's GFS and perhaps other. Albeit, for my purposes rsync (through ssh) will work fine.
