Here's something reproducible:

1. Startup client
2. login as testuser
-local devices working, lbuscd process running on terminal and
lbussd process running on server
        -can use floppy/cd/usb pendrive perfectly
3. logout testuser
4. login as testuser
-floppy drive not shown on desktop
-lbuscd process still running on terminal and lbussd still running
on server
5. plugin usb pendrive
        -nothing happens
-switch over to terminal shell and notice that lbuscd process has
died
6. start a new lbuscd process on terminal
7. logout testuser and log back in
        -floppy drive still not available
        -USB pendrive works perfectly

Is there a way to see why the lbuscd process is dying? Is there a way to
reset the local device system on the terminal when a user logs out?

Thanks,
David

Subject: Re: [Ltsp-discuss] Second Log in problem

Sorry for the previous email, I was VNC'd and my keyboard messed up and some
strange keyboard combination accidentally sent the message. I am working on
outlining all the steps I have gone through to solve this problem.

I have been unable to find a consistent pattern in behavior of the terminal.
Sometimes I can log in as the same user more than once and things will work,
but eventually it stops working (for all users).

It appears that lbussd stops getting started at some point, and manually
trying to start it gives me a "connection refused" error. However, local
devices still do not work even when lbussd is started correctly.

I had previously stated that USB devices were working properly, regardless
of the number times I logged in, but that is no longer the case. Once the
floppy drive stops working, so do the rest of the local devices.

Would the fact that I am using LDAP authentication with NFS mounted /home be
causing this problem? Obviously many others have gotten local devices to
work perfectly in 4.2, so I'm curious what is different about my setup.

I'm using OpenSuse 10.1 currently, but had the same problem with FC5.

Many thanks,

David

Troubleshooting steps:

1. Startup terminal
2. login as testuser
        -local devices work
        -lbuscd
3. logout and login again as testuser

I have now tried to get localdev in 4.2 working on both a Fedora Core 5
system and an OpenSuse 10.1 system and had the exact same problem with both
distributions:

The USB drives work perfectly on each login, but my floppy drive does not
show up on the 2nd login and requires a reboot to fix. I have followed the
trouble-shooting guide and attempted to debug with the little knowledge I
have--but I haven't found a solution. Anyone have any ideas for me to try?

Many thanks,

Just a note. I am having the same second login problem. I need to reboot the
terminal for it to work.
I think that I checked properly and realized that lbus was not hanging but I
need to look further.
Please let me know if you get anywhere with it.
Thanks
