I can testify to this. Having both been an mdk and rh user before converting to debian, rpm comes nowhere close to apt in terms of handling dependancy issues. Apt (advanced package tool) is considered to be the most advanced package manager available today and has been a prime contributing factor in making debian gain considerable mileage over its paltry neighbours.
