Infocom did so and the rest showed no interest.
So I wonder why this issue is coming up again.

Yes, actually a while ago - it was initially set up to read stats from the
routers themselves but this was a rather unacceptable idea (check
http://bandwidth3.cfi.co.ug/index.php, login as user "demo" password
"demo" and count the number of IX routers there :-).
The more acceptable idea was about reading the stats from the switch
itself - being SNMP enabled - a few of us kinda "run out of time" during
that period so AFAIK that's about as far as things are right now.
