Well, today my dutch paper updated me about the new figures. apparently, YouTube alone(!) is generating 10% of worldwide traffic. p2p is on the way down, and overtaken by the importance of http, which is making up for 45% of all internet traffic now (youtube is generating 20% of all http traffic, thus the 10% overall)
And that is before Joost kicks off. Not sure about the meltdown, true ;-) am not on broadband, so didnt RTFA, just the dutch summary TFA: http://www.ellacoya.com/news/pdf/2007/NXTcommEllacoyaMediaAlert.pdf dutch!: http://www.nu.nl/news/1121272/50/%27Youtube_goed_voor_10_procent_van_alle_dataverkeer%27.html On Monday 18 June 2007 19:52:14 McTim wrote: > On 6/18/07, Reinier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > > 5%? > > > > I think when i left europe 2.5 years ago it was already at 30% overthere. > > > > Also on /. it has been mentioned the last few months that the growing > > popularity of streaming video (YouTube, alike, but then fullblown (HD) > > Movies, Sports & other television) will lead to a meltdown of the IPSs in the > > US and Europe, as their networks will not be able to cope with the growin > > demand from people using services like joost ( http://joost.com/) > > Don't believe everything u read on /.
