I used jmuyimba as passwd
.. and i got "root@jmuyimba: #"
At that root prompt, issue the "passwd" command to set new passwords
for your users jmuyimba, md4user and root.

I managed to set new passwords for all accounts.. but am afraid i still
can't login with new passwords, any password supplied at the login
screen gives me access. and therefore any attempt to use sudo .... fails.
