Its another "vanitas" picture. The character in the
back row next to the
lovers - the one smiling while pointing to them and looking
out at us - is
obviously gaunt and skeletal. This person probably
represents death or
disease creeping into the midst of the group that is having
such a good time
that they are oblivious. This underscores the folly
of such wasteful
pursuits such as music and sex.
