One thing -- as Arto said, it is possible with Cleartune to display the frequency. I also didn't know about the Android version, and so I got that one as well. On that version "1/6 SC Attenuated" is simply displayed as "6 Comma Meantone", so I have to assume they're the same thing. In any case, I'll just use my phone to tune in most situations.

Thanks again to everyone.

I found the mode that allows me to see the frequencies; it acts as sort of a pitch pipe. I'll look at this a little more later today.

Thanks, David and Arto.

    Hi David:
Thanks very much for the info. The tuner is Cleartune for the
    iPad/iPhone.
Great idea, making a list -- I'll see if I can find a tuner that
displays frequencies and work from there.
    Best,

      Hi Doug

Attenuated is diluted or weakened. For a temperament this can mean that the extremes are made a little less extreme. For (any shade of) mean
tone usually this means making the wolf less harsh by lessening the
cents deviations from ET around the wolf. If you give the brand and
model of your tuner, maybe someone can dig up a cents or frequency
list, or tou can make one with another tuner(app) that displays
frequencies. The old Korg MT-1200 came with a booklet with such a list,
    very enlightening.

      Dear collected wisdom:
I recently bought a software tuner that had support for non-equal
temperaments. One of the preset temperaments under the Meantone menu is 1/6 SC Attenuated. I assume, perhaps wrongly, that 1/6 SC is 1/6
Syntonic Comma, which I assume is 6 Comma Meantone.
But if I'm correct so far, what the heck is "Attenuated"? I've
written the company that makes the tuner, but there's been no reply
for a few days, and my curiosity is getting the best of me.
      Best,
