Most likely that "someone" was John Davis.  I have been wondering whether
there was a good reason for it, and never got a good answer.  It may have
been just a whim, or something that happened to look good on JD's display,
or an experiment that never got removed.  Somebody's preference.  It has
become part of Lynx's "slang personality" by now.  Just replacing it by
somebody else's preference now, even if that one is more logical, is not
just a bug fix.
