Wow, I thought I was the resident "luddite" here... (no not really, I'm
using the term in the incorrect usage like people wrongly use hacker..)

But I'm pretty sure there're even JPEG viewers for Apple IIs.. They of course
take VERY VERY long to view the image, but if one *really* wants to see
the image...

So is anyone actually running Lynx somewhere were they have NO ACCESS
WHATSOEVER to a machine that could even _slowly_ display JPEGs?

That leads me to an even bigger off topic question -- I have no real
intention of buying a new desktop computer anytime soon, but something
portable would be nice. Does anyone know of something that could be used
effectively as a portable VT100? I mean _instant on_, and be able to hook
up to a shell acct to run things like Lynx.. What I want is sort of
more than current PDAs but WAY LESS than laptop computers, because I don't
want to have to boot into any OS.. A portable Apple II would literally fit
my bill, and I'd pay a lot for one.. Or anything else that would boot
almost instantaneously.
