OK, one last mail on that issue to be polite with John who asked me a question. Then I'm done with it and all the remaining discussions.

Very right. If the bus thing happens after step 1, we are left with no
spellchecker.
Man, we are not talking about the linux kernel. This is not rocket science we are doing here. If I am hit by a bus, another competent developer will be able to continue the work. We have quite a few here...

LyX project history is almost all about that bus thing happening. Look
at the poor people who had to properly fix change tracking because I ran
out of time to make it work well. Look at the spellchecker code ;)

I can understand that. By we are talking here about feature removal not addition ;-)

Lars is being (understandably) paranoid about always keeping the core in
a reasonable state. It can't always happen, and sometimes it's a little
extra work, but it's very important, don't you agree?

I agree yes. But my patch only removed ispell and pspell but aspell was still there. So, in that case, I reckon that it kept the core in a reasonable state (and spellcheking is hardly a core feature :-)). Of course that's just my opinion.

Thanks,
Abdel.
