I think that the addition of vertical lines for visualizing the paragraph
depths, greatly reduced the need for your patch.
Also, the problem with your patch is that it can create a very long layout
list. I've already suggested the a possible replacement for your patch:
Keep the layout combox list unchanged,
but put to its right a choice button that enable you to choose the depth.
