problem is there is no "Real" glossary package. The most common one was (and still is) nomencl.
I can add/ switch to support for a better glossary package. But the question is which one.. If there would be any concensus on which glossary package to switch for, I will happily implement it. glossary.sty is not common, either. It has never been default in my distros.
