Release candidate (rc) or Prerelease?

What do we call the release(s) just before the first stable release?

        LyX1.5.0-alpha0
        LyX1.5.0-beta0
        LyX1.5.0-pre0   or      LyX1.5.0-rc0

I don't really care, but I would like to know which it is?
