Yes, I totally agree. But you might know that the patch, as well
as the
current behavior of the "Load" button, don't exclude anything.
When you've
displayed a dialog once, you know for sure how to display it
again! ... if
you need it. Moreover, that's very easy in this case.
Now we're at the beginning of the discussion again ...
Not my fault... ;-)
We agree on this:
a) sometimes the user wants to edit settings after loading/editing,
and
sometimes not (most of time IMO);
b) there are two distinct functions.
We disagree on this: should the dialog be always kept displayed
after load/edit,
or always hidden?
* You think that it should be always displayed because of UI
guidelines.
* I think that it should be always hidden because of b). For my
part, priority
should be given to functions separation over UI guidelines. I also
make my
opinion on practice I had until now with the two options. Closing
the dialog is
from far better to me. IMHO, guidelines are good, but you have to
consider
practice as well, especially if UI design is already imperfect.
It seems that we explored the facts of the matter now...
Opinions from developers? Hopefully, that will lead to a decision.
