Templates. We don't remove layout files.
If they are templates, they can go, as users can base new documents on older documents they have used - if they are layout files, they should stay, to further be able to use existing documents.

But possible an option for further releases would be, to be able to add an "unsoported" or "deprecated" warning when those layout files are used?
We already have such a warning in the name of obsolete layouts, for example for the old elsart.layout. I did now the same for the 2 layouts: http://www.lyx.org/trac/changeset/39086 Richard, OK also for branch? regards Uwe
