Actually, I think it would make sense if this copying only set in when compiled in release mode. This import of old settings strikes me sensible when I try to inctall a new release (to work with), but not when installing a separate tree (to develop). But this might only be my personal preference. You could introduce a build flag --inherit-settings or somesuch, then everybody can set what pleases him. Jürgen
