Hi,
Please respond to the mailing list as others may have more insightful
things to say than myself, and also other students may ask similar
questions.
To find "easy" bugs to try and fix, use the bug tracker and search for
bugs matching keyword "easyfix":
http://www.lyx.org/trac/query?status=accepted&status=assigned&status=new&status=reopened&keywords=~easyfix&summary=~&description=~&reporter=~&col=id&col=summary&col=reporter&col=status&col=type&col=severity&col=keywords&desc=1&order=id
Note: It is not always the case that a bug that *looks* easy to fix is
actually easy to fix. So I wouldn't just try the top one, but read a few
bug descriptions. The topic may also vary (from internal data structures
to GUI etc.), so I'd recommend something that suits what you're
interested in.

I think upto this May I will need to work on ongoing project. I am
trying to convince my faculty. But after evaluation in may, I will get
to work on project in collaboration with lyx, as my faculty said.
For time being I will like to solve some bugs. I am good in C,C++, java.
So please suggest me easy bug related to project you will like to mentor
in gsoc.

Hi,
Thank you for your interest in LyX. As you probably know, the participating
organizations have not been selected yet, so it is not certain if we will
join GSoC this year or not, although we of course hope to join!
I am not sure if GSoC lends itself to be used as a student project. While
we grade each GSoC project with pass/fail, your supervisor(s) would also
have to grade the project, which may be difficult if they are not involved.
Also, it is of course not a given that we can obtain a GSoC slot/stipend if
you want to start a project in a week or two. If that is OK with you, you
are of course welcome to start working on a project.
Which university do you belong to? Who would be your supervisor, and how
would he or she get involved in grading your project?
If your work is part of a Master's thesis, what kind of work do you have in
mind where two or three related projects can be combined?
