Hi,
I intend to go on your nerves again :-)
I checked out the latest CVS today. Unfortunately, a few things still stop
me from using it for my daily work.
- Open a new file
- Insert a float figure
- Insert a large table into the figure
that is larger than what can be shown on screen
- start filling the table
Now if you start scrolling either by moving down from
one table cell to the next with the cursor keys or by using the
scroll bar of the LyX window, the screen output becomes corrupted
I also noticed that changing the cursor position by clicking the
left mouse button does not work under all circumstance. Even though
I cannot provide a precise description of how to reproduce the bug,
it should be easy to observe if you play around with the table.
If the cursor is at the beginning of a table cell (not inside the
red box) and I start typing, the whole table is redrawn. For
large tables (even if only a small portion is visible on screen)
this takes a second (on a Pentium 120).
I would also like to point out that the performance is rather poor when
entering text in a table cell. In particular, the first character in a
previously empty table cell appears with a little delay. Sometimes,
characters are even swallowed by LyX because it cannot handle them in
time! (Maybe you should produce a little background load on your machine
in order to feel what I feel when using my old Laptop :-))
When leaving a table, the cursor is always moved in front of the table,
even though the user moved it past the end of the right-bottom table cell.
An interesting aspect of LyXCode paragraphs is that it is not possible to
delete them by using the backspace key. You can delete all characters
using backspace but an empty line remains. What is the reason for that?
Finally, I noticed an inconvenience with the paragraph dialog. Once you
have clicked the "apply" button, you cannot apply the settings to another
paragraph. Instead you have to change some settings before. Personally, I
would like to apply the same settings to several paragraphs. Maybe it
would also be a good idea to unify the behavior of character, paragraph
and table dialog. The table dialog work totally different today.
Ah, I forgot one thing: How can I draw an hline with a certain distance
from the previous paragraph? The paragraph dialog offers options for
vertical spaces and lines. It seems like the line is always drawn before
the vertical space is added. But this is too restricted in some
situations.
Have a nice day,
Michael
