This is because the images were in the image cache, and are listed as
unloadable, we do not yet have support for automatic notification.
Should I remove unloaded files from the cache and thus cause the
messages to be shown on each reload or should I remove them?

It's a policy decision and not a bug per se.

Can they be loaded in the regular InsetFig? (try to use Insert->Old
Graphics)

Maybe there is an error converting them, check if ImageMagick display
utility can show them.

The last thing to check is if there is any relation to them being in
floats (there shouldn't be any relation).
