I think it would be absolutely no problem if there were no
Qt-Windows-binaries available on lyx.org.

And we certainly can't prevent *cough* people from distributing precompiled
binaries in other places. So it is possible for us to stay on the safe
side. Whether this is needed or not certainly should be discussed but I see
no unsolvable problems...

Nobody seems to be actively working on a GTK port as far as I can see...
